Nestled at the foothills of the majestic Zabarwan Mountains, Asia’s largest tulip garden, adorned with 1.7 million vibrant blooms, is set to unfurl its colors to the world on March 26, welcoming visitors into a floral paradise.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will inaugurate the garden with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. However, unlike previous years, no grand opening event will be held due to the ongoing holy month of Ramazan, sources confirmed.

Last year, the garden witnessed an unprecedented 4.65 lakh visitors, surpassing the 3.65 lakh footfall in 2023. Authorities anticipate even higher numbers this season and have expanded parking facilities while introducing e-ticketing to streamline entry. “The floriculture department has planted the bulbs in phases to extend the flowering period, ensuring visitors can enjoy the blooms for a longer duration,” said Javid Masood, the garden in-charge.

Besides tulips, the garden will also showcase other spring flowers such as hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and cyclamens.

Set against the stunning Zabarwan Mountains and overlooking Dal Lake, the 55-hectare garden has become one of Kashmir’s top tourist attractions since its establishment in 2007. It was also recognized in the World Book of Records (London) in 2023 as Asia’s largest tulip garden.
